  • Pit Bull Terrier

Pit Bull TerrierPit bull terrier is breed combination of Bulldogs and Terriers and were initially bred to perform in the pit arena, fighting off dogs like them. With its uncommon agility, strong will and unimaginable lack of fear, this made it very fit is such sport despite the cruelty associated by animal enthusiasts. For dogs, a male pit bull walking down the street is like a world champion wrestling showing off his abs. Its bloody history engaging in fights could be attributed to its now very fiery nature. Pit bull terrier is banned in England, Canada, some states in US and in several other countries.

 

  • Japanese Tosa

If the pit bull terrier is the true embodiment of a Western Wrestler, the Japanese tosa is Japan’s heaviest and most feared Japanese sumo wrestler, weighing somewhere from 80 to 200 pounds. Just like the pit bull terrier, the Japanese tosa was created to participate specifically in dog fights. This breed is a combination of Japanese dogs and other types of Western dog breeds. When adopted in the care of a family, a Japanese tosa could be very gentle to children. However, its history in fights has made it a banned breed in countries like Australia, Denmark, Norway, Turkey and New Zealand.

  • Dogo Argentine

The Dogo Argentino is a white dog that has powerfully built muscles and equally strong bone structure to boot. This was developed in South Africa using a fighting dog in Cordoba, Spain and mixed it with Great Dane, boxer and bulldogs. Since its roots are also considered highly powerful breeds, the result is a breed that can hunt an animals such as boars and puma. While it is claimed to be non-aggressive when trained in an ideal environment, ownership is still disallowed in Great Britain and Australia.

  • Fila Brasileiro

The Fila Brasileiro, also known as Brazilian Mastiff, can be easily mistaken as a lazy dog that has no bite nor bark at all. But there may be more to its seemingly clumsy behavior. With its own adoptive family, Filas as very loyal and could be very good with kids. However, when it is disturbed by unfamiliar guests, you may be surprised at how quick and agile this could be. Its aggressive tendencies banned this in several countries.

  • American Bandogge

The American Bandogge is a mix breed combination of the Neapolitan Mastiff and the American Pit Bull Terrier. Historically, the American bandogge were kept chained by day and were only allowed loose at night, serving as a guard dog. This dog is walking confidence ‘doggifed’, highly intelligent but has aggressive tendencies. While this may be so, these could be very sociable and in fact, prefer to play with its human parent. Its temperament like all dog breeds could be inherited by its parents.

  • Presa Canario

The Presa Canario is also known by the name Canary Dog, named as such as it hails from the land of Grand Canary Island. This dog is a cross breed of the Great Dane and mastiff, both of which are not so keen in taking on some drunk pranks from human strangers. In the 1940s, this was nearly wiped out because of the ban in dog fights, something that this dog excelled in. Australia and United Kingdom has this breed on their banned list of dogs.

  • Neapolitan Mastiff

Neapolitan Mastiff, simply called Neo, is a dog is easily remembered for its very wrinkly face. At first glance in Google pictures, you may be able to associate this with the very bulky Santa Claus. But the friendly physical attributes of the Neo is far from its real potential to cause harm. The gigantic Santa may be ready to give you a hug but the Neo’s potential to gain 200 pounds and its history as a war dog in the past is not a great combination if you have kids around. Singapore made it illegal to own one in their area. Although many people do not associate Neapolitan Mastiffs with dangerous dogs, they are illegal to own in Singapore. In order to own one in Romania, one must pass a psychological evaluation. The 200-lb. dog can be dangerous when fully grown and should not be around children.

Unlike other breeds where you can get to have some variation, when you have a Rottweiler, you will always get a black dog with splashes of light orange or brown in its face and under its body. This has a temperament as hot as a Korean noodle and is the only characteristic that non-owners associate to. However, owners of this dog breed say that the Rottweiler can be very calm. Netherlands does not welcome Rottweiler happily and some countries need you to adhere in leash or muzzle law

  • Wolfdogs

People are not the only ones that the marines are eyeing on. Did you know that breeds like wolfdogs were instructed never at any case to enter in US Marine base? Wolves and dogs- these are the breeds that produced this breed hence its name. While wolves are typically shy, the hybrid result may not have a stable personality. This is banned in Milwaukee.

  • Boerboel

The Boerboel is a mastiff dog native to South Africa. This was bred as a guard dog where farmer’s testified how this dominant companion could scare away predators as big as lions, hyenas and their cousins. With its athletic build, it is very easy to believe these claims. Given with the nature to come and learn to love children, its huge size is still made it an unwelcome breed in Denmark.
